Wrapping my hair?

I can not stand to wrap my hair! I know it helps with breakage, and keeps it protected, but I don't like the look it gives in the morning. I have what I would consider a good grade of hair with natural body, and for some reason wrapping my hair hinders that a little bit. Also, when I'm trying to wrap my hair, my scalp hurts the next day, because I'm not that good at it. Is there anything else I can do, besides wrapping? I used to be able to just brush it all back as if it were in a ponytail and then put a do-rag on my head. That worked wonderfully. The only thing is, my hair was an angled cheek length bob then, and I was in a really great climate (my hair gets really damaged in humid weather). Right now, my hair is layered and slightly below my shoulders. Please tell me that wrapping my hair is not the only option I have.

it's not the only option, but is pretty much the best...i have found that doobie wraps are wonderful...my hair is full of body and kinda thick...i get a doobie and wrap it at night...it's simple...i apply moisturizer and foam, roll it and sit under dryer...then i remove the rollers (sometimes i pull it straight a lil with my ceramic iron or 2 inch curling iron), add a lil shine serum wrap and sit for about 15 more minutes...i still have my body instead of a flat wrap and my ends and roots are smooth...if you wrap it each night with a silk scarf or headwrap, it'll last for a week, with your body...also make sure you are using the right type of brush to wrap your hair...i generally use one that hase the plastic bristles like they have in wig shops to keep my body...if i want it smoother, i go over it again with a bristle brush to lay it flat...good luck...

You don't have to "wrap" your hair to keep it healthy. You can always get your ends clipped on a weekly bases and oil your temples. Just semi wrap your hair and put a scarf over it so that can protect your hair from breakage. Its not all about the wrap. Its about how u take care of your hair.

If the do-rag worked well for you then just imagine what a silk scarf would do. Try using the silk scarf in place of a do-rag. That's what I use when I wrap my hair. It gives my hair more body and it's just more healthy for your hair.

I'm not sure how you're wrapping but it should not hurt you.

Anyway sometimes when I feel lazy I comb my hair back - i take the left side secure it on the right with a flat clip and take the right side and take it aound to the left and secure it with a flat clip - after I put my scarf or du-rag on I slide the clips off because I don't like sleeping with stuff in my head and besides they are metal and that isn't good for hair. Also you can try big rollers to give a nice bump to the hair instead of a tight curl and then pincurl the sides and back so that you can sleep comfortably and because the sides are usually more fragile so don't sleep with rollers there - or you could comb it back and put rollers all over back and flatten front with a scarf. Also if you don't mind the wavy look try finger parting your hair like you're going to cornrow it but instead make big flat twist going back or whichever way you want then tie down with a scarf. i the morning you hair will be a bunch of loose waves. To prevent the akward scarf bend tuck the hair hanging out of the scarf like in the first example

Hope this helps...even a little

Good Luck

Just add large or jumbo rollers to the ends and wrap it up in a scarf nightly. Apply a little hairdressing to your hair before placing rollers to the ends.
