Can anyone give me any tips on using hair straighteners?

My hair is in a bob, which is longer at the sides and short at the back, this causes problems when I am trying to straighten my hair. Any tips?

Hello,

Using clips, clip your hair into sections and then do a bit at a time...

works well for me!!

Tip your head upside down and straighten it that way by grabbing sections. Then do the top section with your head normal. By head upside down i mean in between your knees.

try partitioning your hair and then tying them up with scrunchies. then slowly take each bit and straighten it up.

I always start out by taking my hair and putting in it in a pile on the top of my head and use a clippy to hold it all in place. Then start with the bottom and work with small sections. I'd suggest using a heat protectant spray - Chi makes one for about $15 - It's Chi 44 or something, and it works well. Once you have the base down, just start sections parts down and flat iron.

Also, I'd look into getting a Chi Flat Iron, they do wonders. I've had one for about 2 years now, and it is the best invention ever.

Tie the outside long pieces of hair up and clip it to the crown of your head. Then straighten the underneath parts of your hair. When that's done, untie your hair and straighten that part.

tie up the top and straighten the bottom first

use clips or get your partner to do the difficult bits at the back

go to the store and get leave in conditioner (that is mainly for straightening your hair) this keeps your hair from frying. then do the under side of your hair first then do the top that way your not just going over the same thing.

If you use a flat iron hair straightener you shouldn't have a problem with it. You just have to sit there and do it piece by piece, strand by strand. Try doing it in layers as well. Start from the back and move forward. I straighten my hair all the time with a straightener and it works miracles! Also, don't hold the straightener on one spot too long because you can burn your hair. Run it through slowly but not too slow. Some straighteners also have settings for different types of hair. Don't buy a cheap straightener because you will get horrible results.

Well blow dry your hair first, while brushing it at the same time then straighten.

You may find that very slim straighteners will work better for you. Other than that follow everyone else's advise and clip your hair up and work a piece at a time

hi, the best thing to use straighners i find, it use hair serum first, but where you have a different layered cut i would section your hair and start from the back..when you straighten the back..as its short i would do it with your head up side down OR tilt your head making sure you get right to the roots if your hair is curly :). then after each section is done just put a little bit more serum through the ends of your hair, but not the roots as it will make it look greasy...hope this helps :D

use a fine toothes comb with a long pointy handle ( i forget what the proper name is).

comb your hair like normal, but take only a small section from the top of your head, then follow the comb with the straightners, then repeat this but instead of just the small top sectiion take the top and middle sections and straighten them. continue until all your hair is done.

i would also reccomend reamington wet2straights, as you can effectively blow dry and straighten your hair in one go. they also leave your hair feeling really smooth and silky.

i know what Ur gonna think but the best thing is not 2 use them at all.i was a str8nerholic and my hair ended up a mess with split ends and frizz.u can get nearly the same results with a good hair serum and blow dryer.it takes a little practise but in the long run all the ppl that use str8ners will have frizzy dead hair while yours will have a natural smooth finish 2 it. i use sun silk smooth and sleek i dye mine and i almost can sit on my hair its that long but it still looks healthy.the best tip i ever got from my hair dresser was a good brush makes all the difference hope this helps x

dry hair as straight as you can with the hairdryer then straighten your hair a bit at a time, Golden Rule: always use a straightening protection spray which you can get from most stores
